Join us on April 11, 2023 at 12:30pm for a professional development workshop on consulting and non-academic opportunities. This workshop is open to NYU students and NYU alumni. Geoff Porter, an alum of MEIS, will speak about his experiences after graduating with a PhD and discuss private sector opportunities. He will tackle the following questions: What career opportunities exist in the private sector for graduates with expertise in the Middle East and North Africa? What sectors, specializations, and positions are typically open to the Kevo graduate profile? What are prospective private sector employers looking for? What are the pros and cons of these options?
Event open to NYU students and alums only. Registration is required.
Dr. Geoff D. Porter is the founder of North Africa Risk Consulting Inc., a political risk consulting firm specializing in North Africa. North Africa Risk Consulting advises clients on above ground risks in Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia and their impacts on the investment environments. In addition to managing North Africa Risk Consulting, Dr. Porter is a Fellow at the Combating Terrorism Center at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he had previously served as an assistant professor from 2013-2016. Dr. Porter is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science at Fordham University.Prior to establishing North Africa Risk Consulting, Dr. Porter was the Director for Middle East and Africa at a leading political risk consulting firm. Earlier in his career Dr. Porter was an assistant professor of Middle East and North Africa History at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He holds a BA, MA, and PhD from NYU.
