The graduate students of the Department of French Literature, Thought and Culture present the ciné-club: Open to those within the NYU community, the LMF ciné-club meets up once a month for a non-academic for a screening of a francophone movie. We want to share what we see, have seen, and want to see, on a bigger screen than our computers, and to bring together the Francophile and cinephile community of NYU at La Maison Française.
This semester, our club will present three movies centered around the theme Amours/Loves. Wanna know how well the French do cinema? Join us for some snacks and a free screening!
About the film: In Jane B. par Agnès V. (1988), the director Agnès Varda experiments with genre and image in collaboration with her longtime friend, the celebrated actress and singer Jane Birkin. In a series of vignettes, this playful, spirited portrait explores notions of friendship, romance, parenthood, and fame—all while dissolving traditional boundaries between artist and muse, filmmaker and subject.
