"Charlotte Delbo: Writing Auschwitz and After," a conversation between Ghislaine Dunant & Kathryn Lachman

Ghislaine Dunant is an award-winning author whose novels include L’Impudeur (Gallimard, 1989), translated by Rosette Lamont as Brazen (Blue Moon Press, Barney Rosset, 1996 and Book-of-the-Month Club, 1997) and Un effondrement (Grasset, 2008), which won the Michel Dentan Prize. Her biography of Charlotte Delbo, Charlotte Delbo: la vie retrouvée, was awarded France’s most prestigious prize for non-fiction, the prix Femina de l’Essai (2016), and is newly available in English in Kathryn Lachman’s translation [Charlotte Delbo: A Life Reclaimed (University of Massachusetts Press, 2021)].

Kathryn Lachman is Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is the author of Borrowed Forms: The Music and Ethics of Transnational Fiction and co-editor of Feasting on Words: Maryse Condé, Cannibalism, and the Caribbean Text. She is working on a new book project entitled Intimate Histories: South African Jewish Pasts.
