Join the CLACS Runasimi Outreach Collective (ROC) for a screening of the film La Revolucion Y La Tierra directed by Gonzalo Benavente. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Micaél Pereira (ROC), Gonzalo Appiani (ROC) and Professor Sinclair Thomson (NYU History) about the themes of the film. This is the third of a 3-part screening series for November hosted by the Runasimi Outreach Collective, focusing on the Peruvian history of land rights and activism.
About the Event:
A discussion of the groundbreaking film La revolución y la tierra, the most viewed peruvian documentary ever. La revolución y la tierra challenges traditional narratives around General Velasco’s government and more specifically, around the agrarian reform movement. A link to watch the film beforehand will be sent out with the registration confirmation. At the event, we will briefly contextualize aspects of the reform as well as key figures, spotlighting notable clips from the film, then we will open the floor for Professor Sinclair Thompson as well as for broader discussion from all in attendance. This is the first of a 3-part screening series for November hosted by the Runasimi Outreach Collective, focusing on the Peruvian history of land rights and activism.
