Please join us on October 5th at 6:30pm for the first event in a new series on black identity and sonic culture, Sound and Color. Filmmaker/hip hop artist Bocafloja and composer/musicologist Professor Kwami Coleman (Gallatin, NYU) will join together for a salon artist talk on Afro-Latinidad music. Moderated by Professor Tao Leigh Goffe (SCA, NYU) and joined by her students as part of "Caribbean Writing, Reggae, Routes," artists will discuss their crafts and how black consciouness in the Latino diaspora flows through the various meia and disciplines the artists engage in. From Harlem to Mexico City, Bocafloja and Kwami Coleman will chart the geography and cartography of what Afro-Latinidad means to them. This event is co-sponsored by NYU SCA Africana Studies.
