Leonardo Padura is an internationally renowned Cuban author and journalist. He has written screenplays, two books of short stories and a series of detective novels, Las cuatro estaciones, translated into ten languages. In 2012, Padura was awarded Cuba's National Prize for Literature. In 2015 he was awarded with Premio Principe de Asturias de las Letras of Spain, the most importanr prize in the Iberoamerica.
Jon Lee Anderson has been a staff writer at The New Yorker since 1998. He reports frequently from Latin America and the Caribbean, writing about Rio de Janeiro's gang's, the Panama Canal, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, and a Caracas slum, among other subjets, and has written Profiles of Augusto Pinochet, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chávez, and Gabriel García Márquez. He has been honored by the Overseas Press Club, and in 2013 he was honored with a Maria Moors Cabot Prize for outstanding reporting on Latin America and the Caribbean.

Rubén Ríos Ávila is a Professor in the NYU Department of Spanish and Portuguese. His research interests include Caribbean Literature, Queer Studies and theory. His publication include La raza cómica: del sujeto en Puerto Rico (Ediciones Callejón, 2002) and Embocadura (Editorial Tal Cual, 2003).
