Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitments
The Department of Psychology promotes a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture at all levels of our community. We commit:
- To actively work to eliminate the barriers that individuals from underrepresented and marginalized groups face at all levels in being recruited to, being admitted to, and thriving within the Psychology Department and NYU communities;
- Our goal is to create a community that fosters and engages the rich intellectual diversity and research of our students, faculty and staff/administrators. We work to create an inclusive community where our differences enrich all of our academic, social, and administrative bodies. We work with students, faculty, administrators, and staff to help make aspects of NYU Psychology more equitable—including admissions, hiring, education and development, curriculum innovation, and mentorship;
- To listen and act when instances of intolerance, otherizing, and discrimination are reported by members of the Psychology Community;
- To equip the Psychology community with the knowledge and tools to combat intolerance, otherizing, and discrimination not only in our own community but also in the wider world.
