Politics Department announces expansion of International Relations (IR) major
The Wilf Family Department of Politics is delighted to announce the expansion of our International Relations (IR) major to students who prefer a non-honors course of study. Until recently, the IR major was only available to honors students. That’s now changed: students who seek to major in IR without pursuing honors complete a foundation of core courses in politics, economics and statistics, a suite of advanced classes on international relations and political economy, and elective courses focused on a particular region, for a total of 12 courses. Majors are also required to complete advanced study in a foreign language and spend a semester of study abroad. Our honors program remains the same: IR honors students take an additional two-semester senior seminar sequence during which they write a thesis that they present at a department-wide colloquium at the conclusion of their senior year.
