The Department of Philosophy looks forward to the return of students in Fall 2020 and is
committed to maintaining a vibrant philosophical community safely and responsibly. In keeping
with that end, it will offer a full range of graduate courses in Fall 2020. Most graduate courses
will meet in person in the Philosophy building as “hybrid” courses, meaning that students may
also choose to participate remotely via Zoom if they prefer. The specific course offerings and
their formats are listed on our Fall 2020 Graduate Course Offerings page.
The Department will host a wide array of academic and social events via Zoom during the
semester, including colloquia with guest speakers, lunchtime talks featuring members of the
NYU Philosophy community, department parties, and regular twice-weekly teas. Ongoing
reading groups organized by graduate students and faculty on particular topics may meet either
in person or via Zoom.
