The Lerner Fund for Undergraduate Students
The Religious Studies Department, through the generous contribution of the Lerner family, has established a fund to support undergraduate students with research projects and participation in conferences. The Lerner Fund is available to all majors and minors within the Department.
Pursuing academic research and/or attending a conference or workshop are valuable experiences that can enrich a student’s understanding of a discipline. The purpose of this fund is to encourage students to pursue research activities within their field and to assist with the cost of research related material and/or the cost of registration and travel to a conference. Projects should be focused on an area
Students may apply via the online application.
Funding
Funding of up to $1000.00 will be given on a reimbursement basis to those selected. Original receipts for all incurred expenses (hotel, air/train fare, conference registration, simple meals and local transportation) and proof of payment will be required.
Eligibility
The application is open to all Religious Studies majors/minors who are in good academic standing.
Students should visit the Department to discuss the parameters of their intended activities, whether it a research project or participation in an academic conference.
Attendence at the annual Lerner Workshop in Religion and Society is not required, but certainly encouraged.
