Michael Marinaccio, who received our department's Robert A. Fowkes Prize in 2020, has had a paper published in Lifespans and Styles, a peer-reviewed journal for undergraduate work in sociolinguistics. The paper, De LaurentESE: A diachronic study of the idiolect of Giada De Laurentiis, can be found here: http://journals.ed.ac.uk/lifespansstyles/article/view/6641
Michael's paper investigates vocalic and voice onset time changes in the heritage Italian of Giada De Laurentiis, a Food Network show host, over 12 years of her career. The paper stems from an undergraduate seminar on language variation and change over the lifespan that he took with Laurel MacKenzie in Spring 2020. Congratulations, Michael!
