Stacy Sullivan is deputy director of editorial and strategic communications at the American Civil Liberties Union. She began her career in the Balkans, starting the first student newspaper in post-communist Albania, then eventually becoming the Balkans correspondent for Newsweek. She spent two years covering the Bosnian war from Sarajevo, and later covered the war in Kosovo for numerous publications, including the New York Times Magazine, The New Republic, New York Magazine, The Washington Post and numerous other publications. She is author of Be Not Afraid for You Have Sons in America, a book about the war in Kosovo told through Kosovar émigré who helped launch the Kosovo Liberation Army from his Brooklyn roofing business. She also produced a documentary based on the book, entitled The Brooklyn Connection, which aired on the flagship PBS program Point of View.
She as a BA in political science and German literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MA in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
