We strongly recommend all timesheet approvers complete FIN 225: The Approvers Guide for NYU myTime. You may access this training via iLearn on the NYU Home Work tab.
Managers, supervisors, and timesheet approvers should also note the following important myTime reminders:
Hourly paid employees must use myTime to clock-in and clock-out from their work station for each day worked.
Supervisors must not be entering, altering or updating an employee’s timesheet unless there is a technical error or other extenuating circumstance.
As a best practice, you should have written documentation of why a timesheet was edited (i.e., employees should email you if they are unable to log in, so their arrival time is documented).
The timeline for processing bi-weekly timesheets has shortened; therefore, bi-weekly timesheets must be approved by Monday at 5:00pm following the pay period end date.
PeopleLink now has stricter guidelines for the circumstances in which off-cycle checks may be requested.
- If we are unable to request an off-cycle check, the employee will have to wait an additional two weeks to receive their paycheck.
If you will be out of the office on a pay period approval date:
Install and run Virtual Private Network (VPN) security software to approve the timesheets remotely (http://www.nyu.edu/its/nyunet/offcampus/vpn/).
Delegate your employees to another manager or supervisor in your department, so they may approve the timesheets in your absence. Instructions for delegating approver responsibilities may be found in Quick Steps for Approvers.
Contact FAS HR (fas.hr@nyu.edu) to request that we approve the timesheets in your absence. Please contact us prior to the pay period approval date whenever possible.
