The History Department has teamed up with NYU’s Global Institute of Public Health to develop a joint major in Global Public Health/History. This major offers the opportunity for students to deepen their understandings of issues related to public health, while also combining an interest in history, broadly defined, with preparation for a wide range of graduate programs and professional careers.
Majors in GPH/History have considerable freedom in their selection of History courses, not all of which need to have a strict public health dimension. Your advisors in the History Department will be happy to work with you in order to develop a program that complements and deepens your interests in public health – through such resources as internships, independent studies, and, for those who qualify, the honors thesis.
