Terrence Cullen is a postdoctoral teaching fellow in the Department of French Literature, Thought and Culture. He specializes in the literature, music, and manuscript culture of the French Middle Ages. His current book project, Hear This Page: Cultures of Listening and the Medieval French Manuscript, examines the modes of listening detailed in thirteenth-century narratives and their reproduction on the manuscript page. He has also published on linguistic contact and vernacular devotion in the Middle Ages and maintains an interest in the history of sound technologies both premodern and modern.
