Assistant Professor of Physics
Sarah Kostinski is Assistant Professor of Physics. She completed undergraduate studies in physics and music at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, and a Ph.D. in physics at Harvard University.
Prior to joining NYU, Kostinski was a postdoctoral researcher at Tel Aviv University and at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Kostinski’s research centers on theoretical soft condensed matter and biological physics. Recently, she studied the kinetics of intracellular processes that limit the doubling times of unicellular organisms. These studies led to quantitative relations linking the growth rates of unicellular organisms such as the E. coli bacterium and the eukaryote S. cerevisiae (baker’s yeast), to their molecular composition.
