Christiane Schwab is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Humboldt-University, Berlin. She holds a PhD in European Ethnology from Ludwig-Maximilian University (Munich) and has specialized in urban anthropology and Spanish cultural history. She was awarded several research grants (among others, her PhD was funded by the German National Academic Foundation and she was a visiting fellow at the University of California at Berkeley and at the University of Tokyo). Her current research project focuses on the aesthetization of the lower/rural classes in the Romantic age and the formation of folkloristic discourse in a transnational perspective.
