Andrea Gomez is a marine biologist and remote sensing scientist who is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies.She received her PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from The Graduate Center, CUNY, and was a NOAA enter for Earth Systems Sciences and Remote Sensing Technologies (CESSRST) Fellow. Prior to that, she received her Master's in Biology from The City College of New York, and bachelor's in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Gomez's research evaluated satellite remote sensing sea surface temperature datasets, and the impacts of climate change on coral reef symbiosis in Puerto Rico. She is currently designing and teaching Oceanography and the Environment course. Originally from California, she has always loved the ocean and is an avid scuba diver. She also enjoys science communication and outreach.
