Alexis Meza (she/her) will be joining the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University as an Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow Fall 2023. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in History from UC San Diego and has studied in Oaxaca, Mexico, San Salvador, El Salvador, and La Habana, Cuba. Dr. Meza has previously taught courses on immigration, borders, and refugee communities. Her teaching interests are in transnational and relational Latina/o/x Studies, and her research and writing focus on the Central American diaspora, social movements, and the politics of memory. Dr. Meza is a Ford Foundation Fellow and Bouchet Honor Society Scholar. She looks forward to joining the department and teaching a course on Central American Studies this Fall.
