Akram Esanov is an expert on international political economy, international finance, applied econometrics, and country risk analysis. Trained as an economist, he is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Program in International Relations at New York University. Dr. Esanov has previously held appointments at the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo, Japan; the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, UK; the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany; the World Bank in Uzbekistan; the Natural Resource Governance Institute in New York City, and the Department of Economics at the University of Toronto. He has written extensively on macroeconomic performance in Russia and Central Asia and extractive revenue management, savings, investment and spending policies in resource-rich countries.
