Dr. Karen Starr is Faculty and Co-Chair of the Independent Track at the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, where she teaches the Writing Psychoanalytically course. She is Clinical Supervisor at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Dr. Starr writes, teaches, and presents on topics including: psychoanalytic writing; the history of psychoanalysis; psychoanalysis and religion; and relational psychoanalysis and psychotherapy integration. Dr. Starr is co-author with Lewis Aron of A Psychotherapy for the People: Toward a Progressive Psychoanalysis, co-editor with Jill Bresler of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Integration, and author of Repair of the Soul: Metaphors of Transformation in Jewish Mysticism and Psychoanalysis. She is the recipient of the NYU Postdoc Ruth Stein Award for Intellectual Scholarship; the National Institute for the Psychotherapies Author Recognition Award; and the Long Island University Distinguished Alumni Award. In addition to psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, Dr. Starr conducts writing and dissertation consultations. Dr. Starr maintains a private practice in New York City and Great Neck, New York.
