On December 11th, we hosted the first annual open conversation for faculty across Arts and Science. The topic of this dialogue was the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence.
The following three questions – suggested by a group of faculty members spanning the humanities, sciences, and social sciences – served as prompts to guide the beginning of our conversation:
- What are the opportunities for using algorithmically-assisted decision-making to enhance human well-being while avoiding serious ethical harms?
- How can machine intelligence tools incorporate disability expertise in imagining accessible forms of innovation?
- How can technology best advance our understanding of human intelligence and vice versa?
