Many animal advocates see people who work in animal agriculture as adversaries, but Mercy for Animals president Leah Garcés sees them very differently. In this talk, Leah will share lessons drawn from her new book Grilled: Turning Adversaries into Allies to Change the Chicken Industry, which describes how her fight to end factory farming and construct a compassionate food system has led her to collaborate with unlikely allies. Leah has spent years working with farmers, corporate executives, and others in the meat industry -- befriending them, having frank conversations with them, and ultimately encouraging change through dialogue and discussion. This bold approach is helping to directly improve the lives of millions of farmed animals.
