Join the Marxism Working Group next Friday for our second reading group meeting. The Marxism Working Group is a forum for discussion of Marxist thought across a broad range of periods, disciplines, and political orientations. This semester's focus is on Marxist feminism and social reproduction theory, and for this meeting we'll read extracts from Marx's The German Ideology and Capital, vol. 1—on sustenance and the reproduction of labor power, the working day, womens' factory labor, and more—that have been broadly influential for theories of social reproduction. We'll read these alongside an essay by Nancy Fraser, "Behind Marx's Hidden Abode" (2014), which extends key ideas from the Marx readings to argue "for an expanded conception of capitalism."
For more information, and to receive copies of the readings, please contact the Marxism Working Group leaders.
