Please join us for a discussion of two new books on genre, theater and critique by Richard Halpern and Julia Jarcho. They will read from their new books, respectively titled Eclipse of Action: Tragedy and Political Economy (Halpern, University of Chicago Press) and Writing and the Modern Stage: Theater Beyond Drama (Jarcho, Cambridge University Press). They will be joined by two respondents: Martin Harries (UC Irvine Dept. of English) and Karen Shimakawa (NYU Dept of Performance Studies).
