Internships allow students to gain experience in areas relevant to their field of study. Students must find a host organization for their proposed internships (i.e. through the NYU Wasserman Center or on Handshake). To receive credits, internships must maintain a non-paying status.
# of Credits | Number of Hours | Term Paper Length |
4 Credits | 12-15 hours/week | 10 double-spaced pages |
2 Credits | 10 hours/week | 6 double-spaced pages |
The student must fill out the online form for approval by the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
A midterm report (3 double-spaced pages) and a final double-spaced term paper are required and deadlines will be emailed to you by the undergraduate administrative aide. The content should describe job responsibilities, while elaborating them in relation to your academic and career objectives. Additionally, a letter evaluating your performance will be requested from your host organization at the end of each semester.
A grade for the internship will be assigned by the DUS based on the quality of the final paper and the host organization's performance assessment. Please note, internships cannot be repeated for course credit and are only eligible to count towards the major requirements once.
