On Monday, March 23, Deutsches Haus at NYU sent out a call for images, asking our friends and followers to submit the views from their windows that they will be gazing at for the duration of the social distancing period brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. With many of us now teleworking from New York, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and all across the globe, the views from our windows at home have become our primary connection to the world. Please join us in traveling virtually: looking through windows across the globe and sharing personal views that bring us together just at a time when we are kept apart.
We hope you enjoy our virtual exhibition project "What I See From My Window," and also that you will consider sending us your view if you haven't done so already. You can do so in a private message via email, Facebook, or Instagram.
We will continue to share seven images each Monday on Instagram, and will also be updating the images in our virtual exhibition right here on our website. When COVID-19 is no longer a threat to the population of New York City (and beyond), and we all can emerge from our apartments, we plan to present these images in a real life exhibition at Deutsches Haus at NYU, and putting faces to the views we have become familiar with.
