Hello there! My name is Scarlett and I’m the new cultural intern at Deutsches Haus at NYU. This year I graduated in American Studies from Humboldt University in Berlin. Having a Bacherlor’s and Master’s degree in American Studies with a minor in Educational Sciences, I thought it would be the perfect idea to intern with Deutsches Haus at NYU. When I had the unique opportunity to study at NYU in 2012, I immediately fell in love with New York and ever since then I knew that I would come back for a longer period of time after graduating. Being born and bred in Berlin and being used to big city life, I couldn’t feel more at home in this most exciting, energetic, and fascinating city, which is why I’ve returned so many times since 2012. It was also during my time as an exchange student when I first learned about Deutsches Haus and attended a couple of events.
I’m very happy to be part of this amazing team at Deutsches Haus at NYU and to have the great opportunity to learn a lot of new things in these upcoming three months. This internship is an amazing opportunity to participate and contribute to an important cultural exchange between Germans and Americans and meet interesting artists from all over the world.
