Hallo! My name is Jingyi and I am the new student worker at Deutsches Haus. I just started my second semester at NYU and I am now pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree. I come from Shanghai, China, a lively metropolitan city on the east coast of mainland China. I majored in German Studies during undergraduate studies and I spent one semester at the University of Bayreuth as an exchange student.
My undergraduate studies and my experience in Germany have made me a big fan of German literature and culture. One fun fact about me is, during my stay in Germany, I volunteered to work in a local winery in Rheinland-Pfalz near the Rhine River, where I experienced an authentic German family life and got lots of knowledge of white wine. Even though I have changed my major and decided to delve into a different field now, I still want to be exposed to German community and keep practicing and learning German as well. Therefore, I was excited to join Deutsches Haus.
As for New York, this is actually the second time I came here. Being a student and now a member of Deutsches Haus gives me a sense of community, which even lets me feel warmer in this freezing weather. I am looking forward to working with all the nice people at Deutsches Haus and meeting students who also feel passionate about the German language and culture!
