Hallo! I’m Gillian, and I’m excited to have just started working as a Program Assistant at Deutsches Haus. I’m NYC born-and-raised, so NYU felt like the natural choice for my college experience. Now, as a senior, I can say with confidence that I absolutely made the right choice in studying at Gallatin. My concentration focuses on using language (specifically, Spanish and German) and economics to understand human behavior. I spend my free time practicing yoga, reading, or cooking with friends!
My interest in German grew when I started to engage with my Jewish identity in my senior year of high school, which curiosity ultimately led me to sign up for elementary German in my freshman year. I fell in love with the rich intellectual tradition, cultural idiosyncrasies, and all those notorious untranslatable words (Waldeinsamkeit, anyone?). I studied in Berlin the fall of my junior year, and I’ve been trying to find my way back to that amazing city for post-grad. Hope to see you around the Haus soon!
