Hello! My name is Catalina and I am currently in my last semester of undergraduate studies at NYU, double majoring in German and Global Liberal Studies. Although I worked as a part-time intern with the Cultural Program last semester, it’s very exciting to discover a different perspective at Deutsches Haus with my new position as a student worker.
During my Cultural Program internship, I helped mainly with the cultural events that happen at Deutsches Haus twice a week. I had already been very interested in German art, literature, and culture, so this internship was an amazing opportunity to meet and hear from artists, authors, curators, journalists, scholars, ambassadors, and more from the German-speaking world.
As a student worker, I’m now learning a great deal about the Language Program, a side of Deutsches Haus I wasn’t as familiar with before. Even though I just started last week (and coincidentally the new term for language classes did too!), I can already see what an inspiring environment it is to learn German with the wonderful teachers of Deutsches Haus and the enthusiastic students of New York City.
Cultural intern or student worker, it’s great to be back at Deutsches Haus with the incredible staff, interns, and student workers who make it feel like home!
