My name is Alin, and I am very happy to be interning in the Language Program at Deutsches Haus at NYU. Originally, I am from a small town close to Frankfurt, but I spent the past years in the beautiful city of Freiburg im Breisgau, studying Bilingual Teacher Education at the University of Education. Freiburg, a famous university city, is located on the edge of Germany’s Black Forest, and is known for its medieval town center. During my studies, I did several internships at elementary schools, including a trilingual elementary school in Frankfurt. After my internship at Deutsches Haus at NYU, I will begin the formal teachers’ training in Germany.
I have always loved to travel and experience intercultural exchanges. In school, I took part in exchange programs in Sweden, France and Spain. I have always enjoyed meeting new people and learning new languages. However, I especially developed a bond with the U.S. over the years. In 2012, I worked as an au pair in Pennsylvania. During my studies, I got the chance to study and work as a teaching assistant at Sonoma State University in California and at the University of Iowa in Iowa. Now, I am feeling very grateful to be able to learn more about teaching, business administration, as well as marketing skills at Deutsches Haus.
I have visited New York a couple of times in the past, but only for a few days each time. Therefore, I am very happy to have the opportunity to live here for three months and to experience everything that this inspiring and diverse city has to offer. In my mind, it is the perfect place for intercultural exchanges. At Deutsches Haus at NYU, I am looking forward to applying my expertise and didactic knowledge, to gain valuable intercultural experiences, and to grow personally as well as professionally.
Tschüss & liebe Grüße,
