Our undergraduate courses focus on a wide range of linguistic and cultural expressions of the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking world as well as on their historical and sociopolitical contexts. As well as foundation courses introducing students to key concepts and to literary, filmic and artistic works in the field, we offer survey classes in the cultural history of Spain, Latin America, the Iberian Atlantic, and the Luso-Brazilian world. Students can also take advantage of the unique creative writing expertise in our department for advanced language electives in translation, poetry, fiction and nonfiction, as well as for courses focusing on academic writing in the discipline. Advanced electives encourage students to deepen their knowledge of a particular area, including Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula, Brazil and Lusophone Africa. Options are available in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. For further information and if you have questions on choosing or enrolling in classes, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
