Prof. Márquez is an Assistant Professor in Latinx Studies and author of “The Strange Career of Juan Crow: Latino/as and the Making of the U.S. South, 1940-1970." As a historian, her extraordinary work traces the formation of Latinx identity, particularly in the U.S. South. Her current work focuses on the role of Latinx activists in contemporary culture wars and especially in debates over abortion, gay liberation, and feminism.
