Tuition & Fellowships

Postdoctoral students select courses in a pre-registration system that is administered by the Postdoctoral Program office. Once all students have been assigned their courses, they register online.

Tuition and fees are set by the Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS). To find exact figures for the current or upcoming academic year, click on the link at the upper right, "Schedule of Tuition Fees" and then go to the link for the desired semester/year, then the link for "Graduates," and finally the link for "Graduate School of Arts and Science." GSAS tuition and fees apply to the Postdoctoral Program.

In the Fall 2020 semester, the cost for two points of coursework plus registration fees will be approximately $4,446.

The Postdoctoral Program offers several fellowship programs that support students financially during training.  Diversity awards are given to students representing diversity in psychoanalysis.  Awards are based on financial need and academic excellence. These awards are provided by donors to the program and NYU diversity matching grants.

The Miranda Family Fellowship supports students in the GSAS Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis with a 3-year commitment of $35,000 annually. Successful applicants will be bicultural, speak Spanish, and demonstrate financial need. Recipients will demonstrate a notable history of working in underserved communities, and an ongoing commitment to working to improving access to mental health care in underserved community-based settings. Preference will be given to students with a deep and abiding interest in the culture and people of the Caribbean region. Daniel Gaztambide, PsyD

As a Puerto Rican psychologist, analytic training with the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis has been my dream. Psychoanalysis has an incredible potential to be a force for healing and social change and I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue this training from a decolonial point of view, so that I can bring the tools I acquire back to my community. 

What the Miranda Family Fellowship means to me is that peoples of the Caribbean—our voices, histories, and struggle—matter, and that we deserve to be counted, held by walls that do not divide but create a sense of home, nurtured by dialogues over late night cafecitos that breathe “familia.” The Fellowship will support my training and research on Frantz Fanon’s work as a psychoanalytic therapist critical of capitalist and racist oppression—and how both keep us entrenched in colonial materialities. The Fellowship will support me in imagining a truly decolonial psychoanalysis that calls on us to get off the couch and take to the streets.
