2025-2026 Academic Year

Api Dhadda and Ze Cai presented research at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Political Science Association in Philadelphia.

Congratulations to Azam Zarchi, who is the recipient of the Iranian American Women Foundation’s Graduate Scholarship.

Ze Cai presented his research on the adjustment of Chinese local governments to relative performance evaluation at the 2025 International Political Science Association World Congress in Seoul and the 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association in Vancouver.

2024-2025 Academic Year

Congratulations to Makenzie Rodrigues, who is the recipient of the Parke Fellowship through the NYU Democracy Project. As a Parke Fellow, Makenzie will spend the summer conducting public opinion research with the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice.

Yidian Liu presented his thesis research on social media censorship at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Political Science Association in Boston.

2023-2024 Academic Year

Alexandra Shpitalnik has been awarded a Thesis Research Summer Fellowship from the Graduate School of Arts & Science. Sasha will carry out interviews in Berlin and Tbilisi.

Congratulations to recent alumna Clara Sedzro, who has been awarded the New England Political Science Association’s 2023 Robert C. Wood Prize for Best Paper Written by a Graduate Student for her paper "Nationalism Through a Gendered Lens: Women’s Movements During the Anti-Colonial Struggle in South Africa."

Diana Flores, Tess Gellert, and Emelia McLaughlin presented papers at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Political Science Association held in Boston.

Congratulations to Jin Choi and Diana Flores, who have both been selected for the 2023-2024 Social Sector Leadership Diversity (SSLD) Fellowship Cohort.

Congratulations to Madeleine Greenberg, who is the recipient of the LEAD Fellowship through the NYU Democracy Project. As a LEAD Fellow, Madeleine works as a Voter Engagement Fellow at HeadCount.

Hashim Malallah presented his thesis research at APSA’s International Security Section and ISA’s International Security Studies Section (IS-ISSS) Joint Annual Conference and the ISA Midwest 2021 Annual Conference.

Hashim Malallah, Zitian Sun, Noah Truesdale, and Huijie Xu presented papers at the 2021 Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Political Science Conference held in November.

Alice Timken presented her thesis research on US Refugee integration at the 2021 Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association.

Mishella Romo, Sofia Rivera Sojo, and Xiaoqi Sun presented papers at the 2018 Northeastern Political Science Association Annual Conference in Montreal.

Congratulations to Georgina Tzanetos, who is the recipient of an NYU Global Research Initiative Fellowship with which she will conduct thesis research at NYU Athens.

Katarina Hall received the UFM Fellowship to attend the 2018 Mont Perlin Society General Meeting held in the Canary Islands.

2017-2018 Academic Year

Congratulations to Alina Zheng who will start the PhD program in Political Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to Eduardo Gonzalez, Logan Jacobs, and Timothy Lai who are part of the first graduating class of GSAS Pathway’s Fellows. They each presented their research at the Pathways to the PhD Program’s 1st Master’s Cross-Disciplinary Research Conference in March.

Timothy Lai presented his paper "How Cohesive are Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals in the United Kingdom?" at the 2018 Midwest Political Science Association’s Annual Conference.

Congratulations to Katarina Hall, who was selected for the Association for Private Education’s 2018 Young Scholar Program. She presented her work at the APEE’s annual meeting in Las Vegas.

Sayaf Iqbal, Itay Machtei Samov, Deepika Padmanabhan, Shanze Fatima Rauf, Sofia Rivera Sojo, Catherine Spagenberg, and Xiaoqi Sun presented papers at the 2018 New York State Political Science Association Annual Conference.

Katarina Hall’s paper "Gated Communities or Open Communities: Guatemala City’s Bottom-Up Approach to Insecurity" was selected for publication on the Marron Institute or Urban Management’s blog.

Alizeh Khohari is the recipient of the Walter and Betsy Cronkite Fellowship awarded by the Overseas Press Club Foundation. As part of her fellowship, she will spend the summer conducting research at the Reuters bureau in Mexico City.

Khobaib Osailan and Kim Tran presented papers at the 2015 Northeastern Political Science Association Conference. Kim also presented a second paper at the 2015 International Studies Association-Northeast Conference.
