Humanities Ph.D. students will be invited to apply for a year-long Public Humanities Doctoral Fellowship, which entails working up to 20 hours per week at a public-facing institution. Fellowships include a stipend that reflects the GSAS minimum MacCracken stipend and 100% coverage in the NYU comprehensive health insurance plan for an individual.
Participation in the Public Humanities courses and workshop components of the Initiative is not required to apply for the fellowship. However, the completion of the Public Humanities Certificate will be noted and considered as part of the holistic review of student applications. The fellowship provides students with significant professional experience and substantial personal contacts, considerably enhancing their prospects for employment beyond the academy. Students selected for fellowships will participate in mandatory cohort-building professional development workshops and a showcase event to be held in the spring semester of the fellowship year.
Information about the fellowship application process can be accessed here. For further information on applications and fellowships please contact Assistant Dean for Professional Development Abby Williams at abby.williams@nyu.edu.
