'Anthropocene,' 'Natureculture,' 'Hyperobjects,' the search for meaningful vocabularies to describe the climate crisis continues. And yet, sometimes words are insufficient to capture the complexities, entanglements, and inequities that constitute ecological relationships on earth today. Enter sound, music, and soundscapes—sonic phenomena that either enhance verbal language or transcend it altogether. This project is a podcast series that examines the climate crisis through sound, music, and other auditory materials. Episodes feature public-facing narratives about an ecological theme by analyzing a particular sonic phenomenon. Welcome to The Sonocene—ecological stories told through sound.
