Spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, my research interests lie in literary cultural production, intellectual history and identity formation in the Arab Middle East. I focus on the Arab historical novel as a cultural (or counter-cultural) expression whose boundaries are negotiated by memory, the imaginary and the present.
