Sam Bowman to lead research team at six-week JSALT workshop
With Ellie Pavlick (Google/Brown U.), Sam Bowman will be leading a team of fifteen researchers for a six-week collaborative research retreat hosted at Johns Hopkins University and organized through the annual JSALT series.
The funded project—one of three at Johns Hopkins this year—is titled 'General Purpose Sentence Representation Learning', and concerns artificial neural network methods that are meant to extract representations for sentence meaning that can be reused across NLP tasks.
The team includes faculty, industry researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates from several institutions, including NYU linguistics alum Tal Linzen (JHU Cognitive Science), Ben Van Durme (JHU Computer Science), Edouard Grave (Facebook), and Ian Tenney (Google).
