Where do you currently work and what do you do there?
I am a senior editor at Business Insider Intelligence.
How did the IR Program prepare you for what you are doing now?
It made me a more concise and analytical writer. I was also able to hone my strategic abilities through the courses I took.
Why did you choose the IR program at NYU?
I wanted a program that would allow me to study International Relations and Journalism together. The IR program at NYU has partnered with the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, which made it attractive to me.
What was your favorite class during your MA in International Relations?
The Middle East and U.S. Foreign Policy with Joseph Helman. I took several of Prof. Helman’s classes. I enjoy his practical and direct approach. This one was my favorite because it highlighted the complexities and nuances that characterize the Middle East and forced me to see different perspectives.
Looking back, what were some of your favorite things about studying at NYU and about the IR Program?
I think the IR Program at NYU is full of bright and talented people, and the free flow of ideas is very much encouraged. I felt it was a dynamic and robust learning environment.
What advice would you give to current and future students of the program?
Get involved and engage with other students. You can learn so much even outside the classroom through this program because of the diverse and rich backgrounds of the people who are drawn to it.
