Why did you choose the IR program at NYU?
I worked in international business between Tokyo and New York City for five years before coming to NYU. Because of this, I was interested in the Intentional Politics and International Business concentration at the Graduate School of Arts & Science and Stern Business School. Regardless of your field of study or professional trajectory, business skills are invaluable.
Which has been the class you enjoyed? And the one where you learned the most?
I enjoyed courses with Daniel Benaim the most. His lyrical speaking style is engaging and thought-provoking. I learned the most from courses with Michael Posner at Stern. He has a lifetime of experience in government, NGOs, business, and the law.
What advice would you give to the future students of the program?
Be yourself. Make your own path.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is Washington Square Arch because of the inscription on the monument by George Washington: "Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair. The event is in the hand of God."
What do you like best about student life at NYU?
The best part about student life at NYU is meeting diverse students with different backgrounds and areas of study.
What is the best thing about living in New York City?
The best part about living in New York City is the people. New York City attracts some of the most ambitious and creative people in the world. Befriend them.
What are your plans after you graduate? How has this program prepared you for that?
I work for an NGO that sends humanitarian aid to Syria. The IR program provided me the opportunity to think critically about refugee topics.
