Since Fall 2018, the NYU Program in International Relations hosts a special workshop entitled "Climate Change: The Governance Challenge," led by Franz Baumann, NYU IR Visiting Research Professor.
This workshop surveys the science, economics, and politics of climate change. The history of multilateral prevention efforts is retraced and their promise and problems explored. The scope of technical solutions to decarbonization – energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, carbon capture and sequestration, geoengineering – are also surveyed. The consequences of inadequate policy responses to climate change are explored.
