Toward the Christian Republic: The Impact of Vatican Policy on Catholic Antisemitism on the Eve of the Dreyfus Affair

Vicki Caron is the Diann G. and Thomas A. Mann Professor of History and Modern Jewish Studies at Cornell University. She has published a number of books and articles, including Between France and Germany: The Jews of Alsace-Lorraine, 1871-1918 and Uneasy Asylum: France and the Jewish Refugee Crisis, 1933-1942. She has also coedited, with Michael Brenner and Uri R. Kaufmann, Jewish Emancipation Reconsidered: The French and German Models. She is currently working on a book titled The Battle for the Republic: Jewish-Catholic Relations in France, 1870-1914 (forthcoming, Harvard Univ. Press, 2017), which is envisioned as the first of a two-volume work on Jewish-Catholic Relations in France since 1870.
