Join us for lunch and a presentation by Masahide Goto (Saga University, Japan) and Takashi Sato (Hokkai-Gakuen University, Japan, Visiting Scholar Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies NYU), entitled: Unexpected Affinities: Japanese Receptions of German Jewish Thought and Culture.
Kosher lunch will be served from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM is open to students and NYU community members only. Presentation with start at 1:00 PM and is open to all.
German Jewish thought and culture have fascinated Japanese thinkers. This special lunch seminar will bring together two Japanese scholars of German Judaism who will discuss the relation of Japanese thinkers to Moses Mendelssohn and Leo Baeck.
