Prior to entering the French PhD program at NYU in the fall of 2021, Madelyn completed her BA/MA at Miami University, majoring in French and English Literature, with a minor in Spanish. In her last semester, she wrote a thesis entitled “Feminist Reclamations of the Patriarchal Representation of Linear Time in Film and Literature.” Her research focuses primarily on gender, temporality, the body, the voice, the Other, the production of sensation and the senses, and space, as well as all the societal frameworks that limit and define them. Specifically, she works with 20th and 21st century film and literature and likes to employ a comparative approach in understanding these fields.
