Candidates for the PhD may obtain an Advanced Certificate of Achievement in French Studies by taking any four courses at the Institute of French Studies, one of which may be cross-listed with the French Department. 

Students must apply directly to the Institute of French Studies for admission into this Advanced Certificate program. GSAS will pay the tuition for up to two extra courses to fulfill the requirements for the Certificate.
