Professor Martha Rust edits and writes for the blog Listology, which is anticipating lots of new posts and updates this semester. Follow the link for updates and an overview of the blog's theoretical remit and aims.

Professor Denis Donoghue, who was appointed the Henry James chair of English and American Letters in 1980, passed away on April 7th. He also held professorship at his alma mater, the University College of Dublin, and served as the director of the first Yeats summer school in Co Sligo. Read his Irish Times obituary here.

Professor Una Chaudhuri and her collaborative creative project Dear Climate were commissioned to install a campus-wide installation, entitled "Signs, Wonders, Blunders," at Appalachian State University, North Carolina. The installation will be up through May 2021, and will be the focus of many events and engagements, including an Artist's Talk by Una Chaudhuri and Marina Zurkow, and a faculty seminar led by Chaudhuri. 

NYU has awarded the 2020 Callaway Prize for the Best Book on Drama and Theatre to "A Poetics of Modernity: Indian Theatre Theory, 1850 to the Present", edited by Aparna Bhargava Dharwadker, Professor of English and Interdisciplinary Theatre Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Callaway Prize, which carries a cash award of $9,000, is given by NYU’s Department of English for the best book on drama or theatre published during the previous two years by an American author. The 2020 award was delayed until this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Undergraduate student Audrey Peterson was awarded first place of the Jane Austen Society Of North America's (JASNA) essay writing contest in the college/university division. Her marvelous essay can be found on JASNA's website.
