Get oriented with the publication process in your field/s: key journals; when, where, how, and what to submit? Whether to submit (an article/essay/review)? We ask that students do some quick advance "homework" before the meeting:
Advance prep if possible (do come even if you don't do this -- but do it!):
--Reach out to advisers, friends, colleagues, and ask: what are the top five journals in your field/s? You might also ask about 'public-facing' journals or sites (for a more general readership)
--look up the submission protocols for those journals: article length, timing, process, etc.
--consider whether these journals have a review section.
--Browse!
Add your findings to the Google Sheet you can find in our internal department emails from Maureen McLane, and in the Next Week in English newsletter.
Come with your findings, thoughts, questions, and comments!
