Description:
Thanks to the flexibility of our presenters and organizers, NewYorkScapes is excited to announce that this year’s Culture Mapping symposium will take place entirely online. See the full program and register online at bit.ly/culturemapping20
Every year, Culture Mapping brings together practitioners working at the intersection of cultural studies, "mapping" and place-based inquiry, and digital methods. This year's symposium asks participants to imagine their work in relation to themes of futurity and possibility, particularly apt given the unprecedented nature of our current circumstances. Our special guest speakers include Hannah Alpert-Abrams and Kubi Ackerman.
We recognize that these are difficult times, characterized in part by uncertainty and precarity. For those able to join us via Zoom on April 17th & 18th, we look forward to collectively developing communities of care and praxis amidst the affective and material challenges of social distancing. For those unable to join synchronously, we hope to record much of the symposium content for viewing at another time.
Note: In an attempt to minimize the likelihood of ZoomBombing, the Zoom link will be distributed via email to registered attendees only. Please do register in advance to tune in! Registration is free and open to the public.
